Using NEXDOWNLOAD

Are NEXDOWNLOAD tools free?+
Yes. The current NEXDOWNLOAD browser tools are free to use and do not require an account, subscription or credit card. You can open a tool, choose a local file, select the result you need and download the new copy from the same browser session.
Some tools have practical file-count or file-size limits because processing happens on your device. Those limits are shown before upload so you can decide whether the browser tool is suitable for the job.
Do I need to install software or a browser extension?+
No. NEXDOWNLOAD is a browser-based file converter and utility site. The current tools run from the website and do not require a desktop installer, browser extension or unrelated download manager.
For the smoothest experience, use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Older browsers may not support newer image formats, audio codecs or the browser APIs used for local conversion.
Do you upload my files?+
The current tools process selected source files locally in your browser. Your image, audio, video or document source is read into browser memory and is not sent to a NEXDOWNLOAD conversion server for the transformation.
Local processing can improve privacy, but it also means speed depends on your phone or computer. Closing the tab, refreshing the page or clearing the tool removes the active browser session and its temporary file objects.
Does NEXDOWNLOAD keep a copy of my result?+
No. Results are created as browser download objects and are not placed in a NEXDOWNLOAD cloud library. When you click Download, the browser saves the converted file to the location selected by your device or browser settings.
Because there is no user account or online result history, keep the downloaded copy somewhere safe. If you close the page before downloading, you may need to run the conversion again.
Why can a large file be slow?+
Large files use more device memory and processing power. High-resolution phone photos, long audio tracks, animated GIFs and video files can take noticeably longer than a small JPG or PNG because the browser must decode, process and re-encode more data.
Keep the page open while processing, avoid running many heavy tabs at the same time and try a desktop browser for very large batches. If the browser reports that a file is too large, reduce the batch size or use trusted desktop software.
Where can I see the upload size limit?+
Each tool shows its accepted formats, maximum number of files and per-file upload limit inside the upload area before you choose a file. The limit is enforced by the tool so an oversized or unsupported file should produce a clear message instead of silently failing.
A website or application you are uploading the final result to may use a different limit. Leave a small margin below strict requirements such as 100KB, 200KB, 2MB or 5MB because some services calculate units differently.
Why does a button sometimes remain disabled?+
The main Convert, Compress, Resize or Create PDF button remains disabled until the required input is valid. Common causes include no selected file, an unsupported file type, a file above the displayed limit, an empty batch or a setting that cannot be applied to the selected format.
Remove the problem file, confirm the output choice and try again in a current browser. If Optional settings are open, apply or close them before retrying. A disabled button is intended to prevent an invalid conversion rather than start a process that cannot finish.
How can I report a reproducible problem?+
Use the Contact page and include the exact tool name, browser, operating system, input format, approximate file size and the steps that caused the problem. Copy any visible error message and explain whether the issue happens every time or only with one file.
Do not send confidential source files, identity documents or private recordings. A clear description and a non-sensitive sample type are usually enough to investigate a broken button, unsupported format or conversion error.
Image formats and conversion

What image formats can the Image Converter accept?+
The Image Converter accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, SVG, HEIC, HEIF, GIF, BMP and AVIF when the browser or included decoder can read the source. The available output formats are JPG, PNG and WebP, which cover the most common needs for photographs, transparent graphics and website images.
Format support can still vary by browser, operating system and the way a file was encoded. If one unusual file fails, try opening it in its original app and exporting a standard JPG or PNG copy first.
Can I convert HEIC to JPG?+
Yes. Add an iPhone HEIC or HEIF photo, choose JPG and start the conversion. JPG is useful when a Windows program, website form, email service or older device does not accept HEIC files.
HEIC photos may include orientation and color information that different apps interpret differently. Check the downloaded JPG before submitting it, especially when the photo contains text, a document or an important crop. Large multi-megapixel phone photos can take longer on mobile devices.
What is the difference between JPG and JPEG?+
JPG and JPEG normally refer to the same Joint Photographic Experts Group image format. The three-letter .jpg extension became common on older systems that limited extensions to three characters, while .jpeg uses four letters.
Changing the filename from .jpeg to .jpg does not change image quality or compression. Quality depends on how the image is encoded, including the quality setting, pixel dimensions and whether it has already been saved repeatedly with lossy compression.
When should I use JPG?+
Use JPG for photographs, camera images and form uploads where broad compatibility and a smaller file are more important than transparency. JPG uses lossy compression, so it can reduce photo size substantially while remaining visually clear at a sensible quality setting.
Avoid JPG for logos, text-heavy screenshots, line art or images that need a transparent background. Those assets can develop halos or blocky edges, and transparent areas must be filled with a solid color.
When should I use PNG?+
Use PNG for transparent backgrounds, logos, interface graphics, diagrams, screenshots and images with sharp text or flat colors. PNG is normally lossless, so repeated saving does not introduce the same photographic compression artifacts as JPG.
A PNG photograph can be much larger than an equivalent JPG or WebP. If transparency is not required and the image is mainly a photo, converting PNG to JPG or WebP can make sharing and uploading easier.
When should I use WebP?+
WebP is a strong choice for modern website images because it supports lossy and lossless compression, transparency and animation. It can often produce a smaller web image than older formats while keeping similar visible quality.
Choose JPG when maximum compatibility with older software or a strict form matters. Choose PNG when you need predictable lossless graphics. Before replacing every website image, confirm that your publishing platform, editing software and workflow accept WebP.
Does JPG support transparency?+
No. JPG does not store an alpha transparency channel. When a transparent PNG, WebP or SVG is converted to JPG, every transparent pixel must be placed over a solid background color.
Use PNG or WebP output when the transparent background must remain. If you need JPG for a form, choose a suitable white or colored background in Optional settings and check edges around the subject before downloading.
Can converting an image improve a blurry photo?+
No. File conversion changes the container or encoding but cannot recreate detail that is missing from the original photo. Converting a blurry JPG to PNG may prevent additional JPEG loss, but it will not make the existing image sharper or higher resolution.
Upscaling can increase pixel dimensions, but ordinary resizing does not restore real detail. For important restoration or enhancement work, use a dedicated photo editor or a reputable image-enhancement service and review the result carefully.
Why is the converted result sometimes larger?+
File size depends on the output format, quality setting, pixel dimensions, transparency, color detail and image complexity. A photograph converted from JPG to PNG often becomes larger because PNG preserves pixel data losslessly instead of using photographic compression.
A high-quality WebP or JPG can also be larger than a heavily compressed source. To reduce size, lower quality gradually, resize overly large dimensions or choose a format that matches the image type instead of selecting a format only by name.
Can I convert several images at once?+
Yes. The batch-enabled image tools let you add several files one by one with Add more files. The queue shows each filename, file size and selected output so you can remove a mistake before processing the batch.
Batch conversion uses more memory than converting one file. For large HEIC photos or many high-resolution images, use smaller groups and download the results before starting another batch.
Compression, dimensions and upload limits
KB targets, pixel sizes, quality, DPI and exact form requirements.
Where are the 20KB, 50KB, 100KB and 200KB options?+
The common 20KB, 50KB, 100KB and 200KB targets are presets inside the main Image Compressor. Keeping them in one tool gives you the same strict file-size options without creating several confusing pages that perform nearly identical work.
Choose the closest target required by the application, exam portal, job form or document upload. The tool aims to produce a file at or below the selected limit; the result may be slightly smaller because browser encoders work in quality and dimension steps.
What is the difference between resizing and compressing?+
Resizing changes the pixel width and height, such as reducing a 4000 x 3000 photo to 1600 x 1200. Compression changes how efficiently those pixels are stored by adjusting encoding quality, color information or other format settings.
A strict upload requirement may include both dimensions and file size. Resize first when the image is much larger than the destination needs, then compress to the required KB or MB limit. This usually preserves better visual quality than forcing a huge image into a tiny file only through aggressive compression.
Can every image reach an exact KB target?+
Not every image can reach an exact number of kilobytes while remaining useful. Detailed photographs, noise, large dimensions and transparent graphics contain more information than a simple logo or flat-color image.
The compressor aims to stay at or below the chosen target. If quality reduction is not enough, reducing dimensions may be necessary. For very small limits such as 20KB or 50KB, inspect text and facial details before submitting the result.
Why does PNG not compress like JPG?+
PNG is generally a lossless format, while JPG uses adjustable lossy compression designed for photographs. A JPG quality slider can discard subtle image information to reduce size; PNG normally preserves exact pixel values and relies on patterns that can be compressed without changing them.
PNG works well for logos, text and transparency, but a complex photo may remain large. If transparency is not needed, convert the photo to JPG or lossy WebP before targeting a strict file-size limit.
Do pixel dimensions and KB mean the same thing?+
No. Pixel dimensions describe the image grid, such as 1200 pixels wide by 800 pixels high. KB and MB describe how much storage the encoded file uses. Two files can have the same dimensions but very different sizes because their formats, quality settings and visual complexity differ.
When a form requests 600 x 600 pixels and less than 200KB, both requirements must be satisfied. Use the Image Resizer for exact dimensions and the Image Compressor for the final file-size limit.
Does changing DPI make a web image smaller?+
Usually not. DPI or PPI metadata describes an intended print density, but web browsers display images mainly according to their pixel dimensions and CSS layout. Changing only 300 DPI to 72 DPI without changing the pixel grid often leaves the stored image size almost unchanged.
To reduce a web image, resize the actual width and height or change compression quality. For printing, keep enough pixels for the required physical size rather than relying only on a DPI number in metadata.
Which format is best for a photo under 100KB?+
JPG is usually the safest choice for a photograph that must be under 100KB because it offers broad compatibility and adjustable quality. WebP can sometimes produce a smaller result at similar visual quality when the destination accepts it.
Start by reducing dimensions to the size actually needed, then adjust quality. Avoid immediately selecting the lowest quality because strong compression can damage faces, text and fine edges. Keep the clearest result that remains below the stated limit.
Should I compress an image more than the form requires?+
No. Treat the upload limit as a maximum, not a target that must be beaten by a large margin. If a form accepts up to 200KB, a clear 180KB image is normally better than a heavily degraded 40KB copy.
Leave a small safety margin for services that calculate KB differently, but preserve as much readable detail as possible. Check the downloaded file at normal size before submitting it.
PDF and document files

Can I combine multiple JPG or PNG images into one PDF?+
Yes. Add JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or other supported images to the PDF Converter. The tool creates one PDF page per image using the order shown in the file queue.
Before creating the PDF, remove accidental files and confirm the sequence. Choose Match each image to preserve individual aspect ratios, or use A4 or US Letter when a school, office or printing workflow requires standard pages.
Can I convert HEIC images to PDF?+
Yes. The browser decodes supported HEIC or HEIF photos and places the converted image data onto PDF pages. This is useful for combining iPhone photos of receipts, notes or documents into one downloadable PDF.
Check orientation and clarity before sharing the result. Very large HEIC batches can use substantial memory, so create the PDF in smaller groups if a mobile browser becomes slow.
Which PDF page size should I choose?+
Choose Match each image when preserving the original image shape is most important. Choose A4 for many international office and school workflows, or US Letter when the recipient specifically expects that page size.
Standard pages may add margins or scale the image. Portrait works well for scanned documents and phone screenshots, while landscape can suit wide photos or slides. Automatic orientation lets the tool choose based on each image.
What is the difference between contain and cover?+
Contain scales the image until the whole picture fits inside the PDF page. This avoids cropping but can leave blank margins when the image and page have different aspect ratios.
Cover fills the page more completely, but some content near the edges may be cropped. Use contain for documents, certificates and screenshots where every part must remain visible. Use cover for full-page visual layouts only when edge cropping is acceptable.
Why is my image-based PDF large?+
An image-based PDF stores the pixel data from every page. Several full-resolution phone photos can create a large document even when the PDF structure itself is simple.
Reduce unnecessary image dimensions, use a sensible image quality setting and avoid including duplicate pages. If the recipient has a strict PDF upload limit, compress or resize the images before combining them and inspect small text after export.
Can NEXDOWNLOAD convert PDF to Word or edit PDF text?+
No. The current PDF Converter creates a new PDF from supported images. It does not edit existing PDF text, perform OCR, extract tables, remove passwords or convert PDF files into Word documents.
Those tasks require a document editor or OCR service that understands the internal PDF content. For sensitive documents, prefer trusted offline software and review the privacy terms of any external service.
Is the PDF sent to a server?+
No. The current image-to-PDF workflow assembles the document in your browser and creates the downloadable PDF locally. The selected source images are not uploaded to NEXDOWNLOAD for processing.
The final PDF exists as a temporary browser object until it is downloaded or the page is reset. Save the result before closing the tab.
Audio, video, GIF, privacy and file safety

Why does audio input support vary by browser?+
A file extension such as M4A, MP3 or OGG describes a container or common format name, but the actual audio stream can use different codecs. The browser and operating system must be able to decode that codec before NEXDOWNLOAD can convert or trim it.
If a file is listed as supported but does not open, try a current browser or export a standard MP3 or WAV copy from the original application. Browser-based tools cannot add missing system codec support.
Should I choose MP3 or WAV?+
Choose MP3 for a smaller file that is convenient for sharing, web delivery and everyday listening. MP3 uses lossy compression, so bitrate influences both file size and sound quality.
Choose WAV when you need uncompressed PCM audio for editing, archiving a working copy or compatibility with software that expects WAV. WAV files are much larger, so they are less convenient for email and limited uploads.
Will GIF compression keep the animation?+
Yes. The GIF Compressor re-encodes the animated frames rather than turning the file into a still image. The final size can be reduced by lowering dimensions, reducing the color palette or sampling fewer frames.
Strong compression can make gradients banded or motion less smooth. Use the balanced preset first, then compare the downloaded animation before choosing a smaller-file setting.
Why does the short video resizer create WebM?+
Web browsers commonly expose WebM through their built-in media recording and encoding APIs. The exact codec available can differ between Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Android and iOS.
The short video tool is intended for simple browser-based resizing, not professional MP4 production or long videos. If a platform requires a specific MP4 codec, use a trusted video editor after resizing or start with software designed for that delivery requirement.
What does a SHA-256 file hash prove?+
SHA-256 produces a fixed-length digest from the bytes in a file. If two independently calculated SHA-256 values match, the file bytes are extremely likely to be identical to the referenced copy.
A matching hash checks integrity, not trust. It does not prove that the original publisher is legitimate, that a file is free from malware or that the supplied reference hash is genuine. Obtain expected hashes from a trusted source.
Can Remove Image Metadata guarantee every private field is gone?+
The tool creates a re-encoded image copy that removes common EXIF, camera, GPS and application metadata that is not carried into the new pixel export. This is useful for ordinary sharing, but no simple browser tool should promise that every possible hidden field or visual clue is removed.
The image itself may still reveal a location, name, screen notification or document detail. Inspect highly sensitive files manually and use specialist offline software when the privacy risk is serious.
Where are website settings stored?+
Theme mode and optional remembered tool preferences are stored locally in your browser. They are not synced to a NEXDOWNLOAD account and do not follow you automatically to another device or browser.
Use the Settings panel to turn remembered tool settings on or off or clear local preferences. Clearing browser storage can also remove them.
Can I process copyrighted or confidential files?+
Only process files you own, created yourself or are authorized to use. File conversion does not grant permission to copy, publish, distribute or modify someone else’s protected content.
Local browser processing reduces the need to upload source files to NEXDOWNLOAD, but a web browser is not automatically the right environment for highly confidential legal, medical, financial or identity documents. For high-risk material, use approved offline software on a secure device.
