Contain, cover and stretch explained
Contain keeps the whole image visible and may add empty space. Cover fills the entire target area by cropping the edges. Stretch forces the image to the exact dimensions and can distort people, logos and circles.
For most photos, cover is useful for consistent cards and thumbnails. For logos or artwork that must remain complete, contain is safer.
Resize before uploading to a website
Uploading an image much larger than its display area increases transfer size and decoding work. Exporting close to the real display dimensions can improve page speed without making the image visibly worse.
